Several wineries within Dundee city limits discharge high BOD loads to the City’s sanitary sewer system during various times of the year.
DESCRIPTION
The City of Dundee owned and operated an existing lagoon wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) system that discharges treated effluent to the Willamette River. The WWTP was constructed in 1969 with a single lagoon, followed by an expansion in 1979 with the addition of two more lagoons. The treatment capacity of the WWTP had been exceeded for several years. The City improved the facility with a MBR system to provide adequate treatment capacity for flows and loads through 2031, but also to enhance the appearance of the site and reduce odors. The MBR facility is a foundation for community development, and allows the City Council to guide economic and community growth without limitation of wastewater treatment services.
