In addition to the MBR, membrane thickening is also provided to reduce operation of the belt filter press and the overall sludge hauling requirements.
DESCRIPTION
Located west of Columbus, this 421,000 gpd plant was a retrofit of an existing conventional activated sludge system. The use of Kubota membranes made the upgrade extremely easy and straight forward. The existing tankage was simply subdivided with new internal tank walls to provide one swing basin for simultaneous nitrification/denitrification (SNDN), and two membrane basins. Ease of operation was of primary importance, as the small staff is responsible for all the public works requirements in North Lewisburg.
