  • Quick Delivery, Consent Upgrade
Facing a MADEP consent order with a RBC system, a retrofit upgrade of the system using microBLOX™ technology brought the facility into compliance

DESCRIPTION

Using the general principals of a conventional MBR system combined with SND in the activated sludge process, nitrogen removal and filtering is accomplished in a single tank without the need for recycling (i.e., single stage system). To attain the predetermined dissolved oxygen set points, the dissolved oxygen is increased by utilizing the supplemental oxygen feed system to inject highly concentrated oxygen, thereby promoting nitrification (formation of nitrates), then enabling denitrification by reducing the oxygen feed to allow the bacteria to consume dissolved oxygen associated with the formed nitrates, which then results in formation of nitrogen gas. By incorporating SND in activated sludge process, the oxygen requirements for the system are reduced resulting in reduced energy and operational costs.

The effluent is further polished with a GAC media to assure TOC removal down to < 1 mg/L.
