PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Easy expandablitlity, small foot print (size) and high‐quality effluent drove the selection process.
DESCRIPTION
Scrub Island Utilities, located in the British Virgin Islands, selected MBR technology for their new 120,000 gallon/day wastewater facility. TSG, a Gainesville, FL firm specializing in the design, construction and operations of wastewater facilities in the Caribbean provided a turnkey solution including screens, biological process, and membrane treatment. Although the plant is designed for 120,000 gpd, initial flows were as low as 5,000 gpd. Critical to the success of this MBR plant was the ability to continually produce high quality effluent for onsite irrigation, even during low flow start‐up conditions. The MBR plant was constructed adjacent to the island’s RO facilities on a very congested isthmus, on this environmentally sensitive and picturesque island.
