Facing a MADEP consent order with a failing IFAS system, a retrofit of the system using microBLOX™ technology brought the facility into compliance

DESCRIPTION

microBLOX™ for this facility is configured to run in a traditional four stage Modified Ludzak-Ettinger (MLE) process. The design incorporates existing Pretreatment and Flow Equalization tanks (EQ) with new Pre-Anoxic (PAX), Pre-Aeration (PA), Post-Anoxic (AXP) and membrane bioreactor (MBR) zones. The existing clarifier tank was repurposed into a Pre-Anoxic zone with new tankage provided for PA, AXP and MBR zones. The PAX and AXP zones are equipped with mechanical mixers and the PA zone uses fine bubble diffusers. All equipment and instrumentation are easily accessible with no electrical located in the mixed liquor. Biologically treated wastewater is filtered using Ovivo membranes to produce reuse quality effluent. A carbon dosing system, pH adjustment system and a CIP system are incorporated to assure proper biological balance and membrane filterability. Solids, including organics, bacteria and most viruses are rejected by the membrane system and retained in the mixed liquor, which is then returned to the PAX tank with a 4Q recycle. A UV system is utilized for disinfection prior to discharge.
